I realize that this discussion maybe just a tad early for some Christmas shoppers. But next week is Black Friday. (So called because that’s the color a normal human soul turns while jostled between the pallet of gift-wrap and the end cap of obnoxious, musical dancing reindeers in the crush of shoppers at the Wal-Mart on the day after Thanksgiving.) The harried, beaten consumer may shamefully turn to the shiny gift card display in their time need.

This holiday season brought a game system into our home and our lives. It was an early Christmas gift my husband bought for himself, and since “one of us should be surprised when it gets opened,” I had no clue what it was at first.

Cursed Tongue: All Drecked Out

Last week I was enthusiastic about my plan to put no Christmas decorations outside of my house whatsoever. I had absolutely no desire to put up a tasteful holiday display. No twinkle lights strewn over my rock “riverbed,” no inflatable light-up snow globe or NASCAR Santa; not so much as a sprig of rash-inducing mistletoe.

The Shopping Bug

Environmental Group Releases Tree Movie for Holiday Season

The holiday season isn’t the best time of year to be a tree. At least that’s the message that Earthguard, an international environmental group, wants people to think. This holiday season the group has created a movie about trees and how hard their lives are at this time of year around the world.
