Whale Tale From False Creek

Vancouverites got a rare treat today as a gray whale made its way up False Creek and hung out around Science World for a while today.

There were reports of a gray whale feeding in other places along the coast yesterday as well, but according to news sources, this is probably the first time in 100 years a gray whale has come up False Creek. It was literally right downtown.

Offshore Drilling? Don’t Make Me Regret My Vote

This week President Barack Obama announced his administrations “comprehensive strategy for energy security.” Part of the plan: expanding oil and natural gas development and exploration of the U.S. Outer Continental Shelf.

If it had been April 1, I would have assumed the announcement was part of some elaborate April Fools joke.

Cyclones in Burma, tornados raging across the United States and earthquakes in China, all within the span of a couple weeks, may have many people thinking Mother Nature has reared her head to fight back against humans. However, it turns out that one of those natural disasters wasn’t so natural after all.

(For those unfamiliar with the metric system, and for American news outlets too lazy to convert that’s between 32 and 104 degrees Fahrenheit.)
